“The Merchant reminds us fondly of our family roots in the early morning markets. Spruiking the very best that we had to offer, fresh from our beautiful patch high in the Hills, to the bustling trading stalls of the city”.
This generous cool climate Cabernet shows aromas of blackberry, herbs and cassis on the nose, with juicy blackberry flavours and fine tannins leading to a well-structured finish.
The fruit for this wine is grown in Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. This vineyard is slightly warmer and drier than our Western Branch Vineyard. This allows the fruit to fully ripen, resulting in a wine that is generous in fruit flavours with balanced tannins. The Merchant doesn’t have the “green” characteristics that are sometimes associated with cool climate cabernet.
